Boo Hoo Hoo!!!

Last night me and the friends were just talking and the subject of fears came up up, and when it came to my turn I told them..

" I don't go into abandoned houses or old houses, I really don't have a reason, but I've been frightened in places like them before, now i just simply stay clear of them.

"If this was to be applied to Critical Thinking, it would be my Episodic Knowledge working, because my memory at that moment remembered an event i once experienced, causing my decision.

Iwan, one of my friends, says her fear is clowns, like circus clowns. He always refuses to go near them when the circus is in town because she once watched a horror movie as a child where the clown killed little boy/girls. His fear is also based on her Episodic Knowledge.

I bet your fear is too!!!

Unknown Biograpy

This is Sam, short for Samantha Griffin with her adorable son James. They where going for a stroll in the park when it happened, Sam couldn't even get the words out of her mouth, she was just too astonished that something like that could happen in broad day light, infront of their innocent children's eyes....

Sam and James day started their day normally, took daddy, Peter to work then did some grocery's for the day. Sam prefers to go shopping for veges and other consumables daily, because she thinks then her family is eating fresh food, she truly believes this even though her husband told her the shop doesn't restock everyday. After making lunch for her and James, just like any other day they went to the park for a walk, but as you can see James doesn't do much walking, he sightsees!

Then it happened, right there infront of them, a fat, slobish, horribly disgustingly overweight man, decided to take of his shirt and jiggle around. people stopped to stare, some laughed, but others like Sam thought it was disgusting and scary for their children to see. Sam hurried back home and was in an awful mood for the rest of the day. When Peter came home that day, all she could talk about was the obscene thing that happened at the park that day.

This is an Unknown Biography of Samantha Griffin, age 29, housewife, raised in California, U.S.A.Married to Peter Griffin, and has one son James whom she adores, and at the moment this picture was taken, wishes he hadn't been exposed to such horridness.

Tu Quoque Fallacy

This morning one of Eeka's house mates called them into her room to give us a lecture about cleanliness. she went on and on about how they never clean the house properly and that she can't live in a dirty house, but they argued that she's one to talk, she cant even keep her own bedroom clean, its filthy!! And she says they can't clean!!

As you can see as they ended up accusing her house mate of the same trait she was trying to accuse us of. this is called Tu Quoque Fallacy used in everyday life arguments.

Thank You For Smoking

This is one of my favourite movie.
its about a company that sells Tobacco,Weapons n Alcohol.
The goverment wants to shut off their business.
We can relate it to BCT with this statement:
Merchants of Death (MOD)
They sell Tobacco, Weapons, Alcohol
Cars and cigarettes both cause thousands of deaths.

Thus, if cigarettes are regulated, so too should cars.

But cars should not be regulated.

Therefore cigarettes should not be regulated either.

Euphemism

I heard this conversation between a person and her cousin during lunch with my friends last week

Zyk :Hey uncle!how are you?long time did not see u.

Uncle :Hey zyk.I'm fine.how are you and your boyfriend?(rolling his eyes).

Zyk :We are good, uncle.

Uncle :How's your boyfriend?the last time we met u said he's out of a job.Is he working already?

Zyk :Ya.Alhamdulillah currently he is working with Standard Chartered Bank in Kuala Lumpur.

Uncle :That's good for both of u.The sooner u guys will get married..(teasing her)

Zyk :InsyaAllah uncle.Right now just concentrating on my studies first.Ok uncle,i got to go now.see u later.take care.send my regards to auntie, and kak zeera.

Uncle :I will.U take care too dear.

The above conversation, her uncle was using "Euphemism" to make it sound better rather than saying her boyfriend was 'unemployed' he used 'out of a job'.

Sunway Piramid

Later today,i went to Sunway Pyramid to search a birthday present for my brother.
I asked my sister to accompany me and she refused saying that "for the past few days,it has been raining heavily,i'm sure it will rain heavily today.
In this situation, she was applying the "Hasty Generalization" as she do not have enough instances which she conclude that the condition will exist and happen again.

Freewriting

Finally, tonight i did not know what to do..while resting, what else can i write in this BCT blog..
let me think,..hHmmmMm..Since i really do not know what to write, better for me to do "Freewriting" so i can use the freewriting idea later to generate new idea or solving my problems.
Let me close my eyes for a seconds and try to write down as many words as i can that i am thinking of..

SleEpY..MoNEY..blank..daa..daa..blank...

graduation..topshop..street kings..keAnu REaves..daa..

Indecisive

A group of friends of mine is organizing a party. It is some sort like (by using the phrase “some sort like”, I make the statement seems less significant. This is an example of me using “prejudicial-language” - down-player, to attempt to persuade others) a farewell party since this is the final semester. However, I can’t seem to decide of going or not because I am short on cash and I have other plans. So I made a pact with a friend, named Lola saying that “I’ll go if you go” (Here, I can apply the deductive reasoning of hypothetical syllogism).

1) Modus ponens (Affirming the antecedent) - Valid
If Lola’s going, then I’ll goLola’s going, so I’ll go.

2) Modus tollens (Denying the consequent) - Valid
If Lola’s going, then I’ll goLola’s not going, so I will not go.

3) Affirming the consequent - Invalid
If Lola’s going, then I’ll goI’ll go, therefore Lola’s going.

4) Denying the antecedent - Invalid
If Lola’s going, then I’ll goI will not go, therefore Lola’s not going.

To go or not to go. That is the question now.

Nahh. I don't want to burden my brain thinking about partying when i have loads of other stuffs to be worried about like assignments, reports, presentations and final exam.Wish me luck people! ;)

Vantange Point

I watched a movie recently – Vantage Point. The movie starring Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, Sigourney Weaver and William Hurt.

For me, the movie was great! The story line and the way they presented the movie captured my interest because it was different. It captures one event from eight different perspectives. So each time the story rewinds, I get a few more pieces of the puzzle. Watching a story unfold in a series of surprises and have twists in it is a lot of fun! But I just don’t like the ending!! It’s a typical Hollywood movie where the hero is a one man hero! Plus, the American always wins! *rolling eyes* How could a man left without any serious injuries after going through bombing, series of chasing scenes and involved in car accidents. The ending for me was quite disappointing. So, I’m going to apply re-writing the ending as I’ve learned in critical thinking class. I will give “Vantage-Point” a sadder ending ;)

When the terrorists kidnapped the President of the United States, the president died in the accident and Dennis Quaid (who plays as a secret service responsible for the President’s safety) cannot forgive himself for not protecting the President. So, he exiles himself into asylum in a rural area and become a carpenter.

Starbucks

As I am doing my critical thinking assignment II, I suddenly recall a conversation that I had with my friend in Starbucks Cafe this afternoon. We start our conversation when he saw a guy with funny looking hair style and here it goes.

(myself: Kodel , my friend: Nick)

Nick : hey Kodel, you see, you see. You see that guy with funny hairstyle?

Kodel : yes?

Nick : He really looks very 'good' with that hairstyle. I think he better makes it bald.

Nick was trying inappropriate use of Prejudicial Qualifiers.
